Have you ever seen Japanese crochet patterns?

There are a lot of symbols, and I think that it looks very complicated to the first-time visitors.

But once you understand the symbols, you can understand the whole at first glance.

Basic Stitch

sl st(slip stitch)

Dots represent slip stitch / sl st.

ch(chain)

Circles looks like above represent chain / ch.

 

sc(single crochet)

When you see the symbols like above, this means you make single crochet / sc.

 

hdc(half double crochet)

Symbol such as capital letter T, this is half double crochet / hdc.

 

dc(double crochet)

Symbol such as capital letter T with small diagonal lines, this means you make double crochet / dc.

 

tr(treble crochet)

Symbol such as capital letter T with 2 small diagonal lines, this means you make treble crochet / tr.
