How to crochet a rectangle granny square (photo tutorial)


The granny square is a classic crochet pattern.

The basic Granny Square is a square, but I will introduce how to crochet a rectangular Granny Square.

you can use any type of yarn



Worked in round, but TURN at the end of each round.


make ch with a number that is a multiple of 4 plus 1, 1dc in 7th ch from hook,


Then,1dc in next ch,


[skip next ch, ch1, 3dc in next 3ch] repeat, leave the last 5ch.


Ch1,skip 1ch, 2dc in next 2ch, ch1, skip 1ch, 1dc in last ch.


round1 goes around the foundation row.




Round1: ch3(count as dc), (2dc, ch2, 3dc) in sp of last dc(marked with a red star),


(ch1, 3dc in next ch1 sp) repeat to the end,


(ch1, 3dc, ch2, 3dc, ch2, 3dc) in sp marked with red star,


(ch1,3dc in next ch1 sp) repeat to end,


Ch1, 3dc in same sp that you started, ch1 and 1sc in top of beginning ch3. Turn.


Round2: ch3(count as dc), 2dc in sp below, (ch1, 3dc in next ch1 sp) on the side of rectangle, (3dc, ch2, 3dc) in next corner, repeat around, 3dc in beginning corner, ch1, 1sc in top of ch3. Turn.


Round3~ repeat round 2 untile you reach the desired size.
