Free Crochet Pattern:Shelled-Handle Tote

I made this bag using very soft touch 100% cotton yarn, also it suitable any type of yarn, like wool for winter of linen or ramy for summer.

 

Double crochet for the base of bag.

shelled stitch for the handle and net crochet for the body of bag.

Supplies

160g(410m) of ‘de l’enge’ or other sports/DK yarn

3.00mm crochet hook

Yarn needle

Fabric for lining(If desired)

 

Finishing size:

30cm wide and 33cm height

 

Abbreviations:

sc = single crochet

hdc = half double crochet

dc = double crochet

sl st = slip stitch

RS = right side

WS = wrong side

Instruction:

Base of Bag:

worked in continuous rounds. DO NOT turn at the end of a round.

Numbers in ( ) at end of rounds tells you the number of stitches in the row.

 

Round1: in magic ring, ch3(count as dc), 11dc in ring, join with sl st in top of ch3. (12dc)

 

Round2: ch3(count as dc), 1dc in top of ch3 below, 2dc in each dc, join with sl st in top of ch3. (24dc)

 

Round3: ch3(count as dc), 1dc in top of ch3 below, 1dc in next dc, [2dc in next dc, 1dc in next dc] repeat around, join with sl st in top of ch3. (36dc)

 

Round4: ch3(count as dc), 1dc in top fo ch3 below, dc in next 2dc, [2dc in next dc ,dc in next 2dc] repeat around, join with sl st in top of ch3. (48dc)

Fasten off.

 

Repeat row1 to row34 on other handle (3 more), then put 2handles together inside out, sew the handle together usinge the end of yarn.
